Bappy Hirthday!

I obviously used the wrong flash setting, but you get the point...once again, happy 27th birthday to my friend Mrs. Nuge...the shrimp cocktail was delightful...

...maybe it's best we can't see your face, in case you're vetted for a future government position...

Tricks are for kids...

Yeah, so I stole the headline from FSN, but I don't care...Fabian Brunnstrom scored a Hat Trick tonight, in his first NHL game...incredible, and I'm sorry I wasn't there...but at least one of my brothers was, and I got to see it on tv...

I don't know that any shoes were thrown, but some hats definitely were...

So much violence...

I was flipping channels Friday night, and lo and behold, there was one of my all-time favorite shows of all-time forever and most favorite...ever...

...then it dawned on me, just how much violence I was exposed to as a child...

...of course, in the end, the Dynamic Duo got their man...

...Heath Ledger got nuthin' on this_dude...

Another one?!?!...

Once again I have to write about a loss in the music community, this time Rick_Wright, who passed at age 65 to the other world...I guess I have to start realizing that a lot of my heroes are starting to reach this age, and the inevitable...but it still sucks, considering my intention today was to discuss this...

HUFF! HUFF! HUFF!

I guess that's the best way to spell it...but if you remember this_guy...you'll know what I'm talking about...

ESPN Classic shows old AWA wrestling from the '80s, which is pretty funny to watch every now and then...of course, here in Texas, we didn't really get the AWA scene, but these wrasslers traveled all over, so there are many you'd recognize...

...you might even recognize an announcer or two...

Way to go...

The American women won yet another football match, but this one was a little more trying...4 hours' worth of trying to be exact...

The game started and saw the U.S. score in the 22nd minute vs. Canada in the quarterfinals to take a 1-0...excuse me, 1-"nil" lead...then all heaven broke loose, as thunder & lightning (not to be confused with Jeff Goldblum & Ben Vereen as Thunderbolt & Lightfoot) caused a 1 1/2 hour delay...of course, the game resumed and went into extra time, while my dvr only recognized "regular" time, so I missed the end...

Anyhoo, Natasha Kai, the bad-ass Hawaiian with a full-sleeve tattoo, scored to make the final count 2-1 in favor of the U.S. ladies...

Rock on...

Aye, it's all shite!

Those soccer hooligans are at it again...this time, though, it's the actual players, and the English FA is out to get some respect for the referees...seems that too many shenanigans are happening on the field, and now the team captains are being asked to help police their teammates and prevent bad 'tudes towards the officials...pretty funny considering some of the highest-profile captains are the ones most often involved in the tomfoolery...

...maybe if the fans start throwing their shoes...

Trucks trucks trucks trucks trucks trucks trucks...

Leave it to my uncle to take crazy-ass pictures of us kids back in the day...this was probably some Easter gathering or what not, and he has me and my cousin posing in goofy-ass situations...as you can see, I just sold him my grandpa's truck...probably without a title...

We don't care how you get here folks, just get here!

Thursday, July 17, 2008

Well that sucks...

I was watching the U.S. Women's national team (soccer, of course) last night, and saw this...ouch...

This clip is actually cut for "viewer discretion", because the last angle shown is cut off just before you see her leg flopping around...it was interesting to see live, because when it first happened it didn't seem that serious...once the U.S. brought the ball back towards her, then you see she's still on the ground, and hasn't rolled over or anything...

Something I found interesting is how the announcers apparently were unable to tell that she had broken her leg; the definitive angle was shown several times, and it was pretty clear she wasn't going to walk it off; she broke both bones in her lower leg, about midway between the knee and ankle...it makes me think of all those other times you'll be watching some game, and the announcers can never seem to get a good grip on what is being replayed...the only guys I know who consistently analyze a replay and almost always get it right are Ralph & Razor...hell, they see shit most of us wouldn't see...

Maybe I need to make a tape of me calling some games, so I can make more money...

I'm Baaacckk...

...Hi to you all...if you're still there...

I'm back up and running, after a crazy 1 1/2 months...let's see, what's happened...Ah yes, I got my car back...

...just kidding...this is the lovely Toyota Egg Enterprise gave me to drive for the 32 friggin' days my car was in the shop...

...Spain won the Euro 2008 Football (soccer) tournament...I shoulda placed a bet; my boys went undefeated!

...and my Dad turned 60!...by the way, that "300" bowling center is pretty cool...

...oh yeah, I donated some shoes too...

...lovely...

...unbelievable...only about 5 blocks from home, and a kid in a Nissan Quest decides the intersection is a 4-way stop when it isn't...

...I'm okay, and even more importantly so is Sierra, who was with me for a nice ride with the windows down and the sunroof open...

...but dammit the car's barely a year old...

...well, I'll be sure to put up "after" pictures too...

...a shoe has been thrown...

It's a baby...yay baby!

Sorry it's a little late, but congrats to Tim & Mona on the arrival of Allison Hope...6 lbs. 13 oz....such a pretty little baby, with cool dimples on her cheeks...so here's to another niece, and another Taurus in the family!

A few more cool pix...

Mike & J.R. (was it his last game?)

Roenick & Morrow (has anyone ever been called "Cap'n Crunch" before?)

"Stone Cold"?

Still tired...

...I can't believe how tired I still am, and all I did was watch the game...

...can you imagine playing 2 full games, plus the start of a 3rd, all in one swoop? nuts...

...I just hope the Stars are able to get a little rest from this before game 1 Thursday...

...let me say that Turco has finally proven himself to me by getting to this point, and it's not just based on last night, as amazing as he was...I think he's really stepped up after finally getting help from the offense, and hasn't really had a bad game yet...this is what he needed to do to regain the confidence and trust of a lot of fans who felt the same way I did...I can honestly say that, as much as I'd love to see the Cup being skated around again, I would not be disappointed with the guys if they don't make it past Detroit...I'm not giving up on them, because I do think they can do it...I just think they've worked so hard these first two rounds that you can't help but appreciate them for that alone...

...8 wins away...

Helluva Game!

...more on this tomorrow, but I had to post to prove I was awake for it...

...Stars win 2-1 in the 4th overtime, and the 8th-longest game in Stanley Cup history...

...BELIEVE!!!...

The Heat of The Moment...

...well well, the supergroup Asia (as a former coworker loves to call them) paid a visit to the House of Blues Sunday night...what a great show it was...

...I have to say they sounded incredible after all these years...Steve Howe looks like the tall thin man from the "Phantasm" movies, and the others may be a little heavier than they were 1982, but they can indeed still rock...

...the set list was what you would expect, pretty much most of the songs from their greatest hits cd...but they also played songs from each member's previous bands...and I have to say the 2 songs from the new cd weren't bad at all...I enjoyed them playing "Roundabout", and even though it was at a noticeably slower pace, still sounded great...they also didn't edit the songs...

...of course, the drum solo was a highlight, but really because Carl Palmer is a good showman, and makes it fun to watch...here's_an_example...not the best quality, but you'll get the point...

...the funniest part, though, was all the fans who had to "go nerd it up"...

...geez, I hope I wasn't one of 'em...

F Chris Pronger...

Once again, yay to Stu Barnes, along with Stephane Robidas, Loui Erickson, and another big boy by the name of Mike Modano...Turco did what I said he needed to do, and that was help this team get to the second round...now we can talk about monkeys off the back...

In the end, though, my long-standing point about Chris Pronger has been proven: he is a worthless, over-rated goon, and how he has gained all-star accolades is beyond me...from the first puck dropped, this guy has shown he is no more than a meathead skater, who has nothing more in mind than to dish out physical play...now, some of you may say, "physicality is part of the game"...sure, but not when you sacrifice actual ability...remember, Pronger was coming off an 8-game suspension for stomping an opposing player, and he had no regrets...I think it's appropriate that his penalty helped his team lose game 6...I can't stand how people like him, Keith Tkachuk, and Rob Blake continue to play with no regard fo sportsmanship, and still have such popularity...they wouldn't have lasted in the 80's and early 90's, when Probert and Domi made you pay for hitting a real star...

Rock on, Believe, and keep the dream alive...

STOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I can't say how pissed I am that I missed Stu Barnes' goal...ROCK ON!...

...but I had more pressing needs in that my Thursday Mens Over-35 team had a CHAMPIONSHIP GAME to play for...

...so for all the over-35's out there, score and score!...

...yay to Stu, who has been one of my faves for years now (even back when he was a Sabre who lost The Cup to my beloved Stars back in'99), and to Chargers F.C., who won our first championship after only 3 seasons...really, only after 2, because our first season was literally "out of our league"...

...I know that rec-league soccer isn't anything like professional hockey at its finest, but it's still cool to have these things happen on the same night...

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Heck Yes!

What an incredible way to start the playoffs! The_Stars pulled off a great win Thursday, and hopefully can do the same tonight...as most of you know, I still have doubts about Turco, but he was exceptional in game 1, and if he can get them to round 2, I may ease up a little...

GO STARS!!!

Is this scary to a 4-year-old?

I know, I know...these edits aren't great...but this_shit_is_still_funny...

...by the way, this_website is actually pretty neat...search for "large lavender live hand", and I promise you'll recognize almost everyone there...

Yay F-ers!...I mean, Rangers!

Well, here we go again, another season, another loss_on_opening_day...so what else is new? That's 5 years in a row, by the way...supposedly, this is a "rebuilding" season, but by this point, we should have a new Great Wall of China...or at least a Chick-fil-A...

Damn, I didn't realize I had been gone this long, but hopefully I can get back into the flow...

I would like to give props to my girl Maddie, who left us on Easter Sunday...this explains the picture and new section on my sidebar...yeah, Sierra misses her too...

What, me worry?

Well, I'm no longer a skeptic...Brad Richards is a bad-ass...

In case you missed the hockey news around town, this big-bad mofo was acquired by the Stars at the trade deadline...I wasn't too crazy about what we gave up, but after his first game with the team, I'm thinking "hello_Stanley_Cup"...

Monday, February 18, 2008

Right!

Have you ever noticed how alcohol tends to make you discuss things you wouldn't normally? Not necessarily "skeletons in the closet"-type stuff, but just out-n-out crazy shit?! And no matter whether (or how much) you warn someone, they've had enough to drink to decide it's a good idea to find out for themselves what you're talking about? If you've heard of "2_girls,_1_cup", you'll get the drift...if you haven't, don't look for it or check it out...trust me...

Anyhoo, I still can't get the barf smell out of my sink, which was the result of a rather bacchanalian night a coupla weekends ago...mind you, Budweiser, Guinness, Tecate, DRAFT Miller Lite, and (possibly) a Foster's do not a good mix make...especially after some lame-ass cheese fries from Snuffer's...yikes...but gimme some credit...damn near 10 years since the last regurgitation...

Sunday, February 3, 2008

Yay!

G-Men, baby! I'm so glad they beat those mofos, and what a hell of a game it was...instant classic...the wife even stayed up for most of it (at least long enough to see the Justin Timberlake commercial)...No more of this "history" bullshit and an undefeated season...ha!

Loved the Geico commercial (sorry, no link :l ), and the Bridgestone one with Alice Cooper & Richard Simmons...overall though, I thought it was a pretty lame year for ads...
Let's see if the 'Boys can do something next year :p

How do you afford your rock-and-roll lifestyle?

We been hangin' wit da fams the past coupla weeks, which explains my lack of correspondence in that time...let me say that hanging out in bars (with the man from Mars) takes a little more recoop time than it used to...having said that, it's still been lots of fun...we'll see how long this sudden change will last, but I'm enjoying the ride...

On a serious note, I want to tell you guys about my cousin Frankie...he does some great work and I want to pass on his website...it's new, so he's still working on it, but it has great info and basics already on it...he's a painter/artist, so tell your friends!

A Brand New Fresh Start To The Top Of The Morning Day...to you.

We're so excited to have the opportunity at the start of this new year to move into our new corporate offices...

...yes, the entire 3th Floor!

We had to have plenty of room to plan the signage for our new venture into the nightclub district:

We were worried about attracting the wrong crowd...

By popular demand, a clarification was requested:

Please, stop being so demanding! What do you think, that you're always right?!

25 or 6 to 4

I have a cousin who just had twins (yay!...a boy & a girl!), and it got me to thinking about good ol' Gregor_Mendel...

See, she's half Mexican, half Anglo, and her babies are the same...wait, no they're not...they are 1/4?...or are they 1/8 since they split the sauce?...seriously, help me figure this one out...

Mom=1/2 Mex, 1/2 White

Dad=All White
