Well, it's that time of year again...you know, sinus headache...sore throat...massive amounts of nasty, sticky mucus...that's right kids! It's Sinus Infection Season! Gather 'round as we sing the holiday favorites:

"Why is there blood in my snot?"

but then I could be referring to some of my students...

What a crazy summer it's been with all the death, and til now I haven't really been too upset...but another major milestone in my life has passed with the death of Walter Cronkite, and I really am sad this time around...

Yeah, I know I wasn't here for you when Farrah and Michael died, but dammit, this was a good man; someone we could count on to be there for us, and to help us get through the rough times...maybe he realized we've gone too far to be helped...

Anyway, thanks Walter; for being an influence, but more importantly, for being a friend.

...only one day left before summer vaca...sorry to brag, but I'm loving this perk...unfortunately, some of my "students" won't be enjoying this time off...they said "F Mr. Reyes's class"...so_they_get_an_F...

What A Great Answer!

One of the coolest parts of my job is reading the "creative" answers of my pupils..I'll never call them that again, I just always wanted to say that...

Anyhoo, here's a sample...

Look at the picture, and read the background info the student got for it:

"During World War II, Winston Churchill often visited bomb sites throughout Britain to inspect the damage and boost morale"

Q: Who do you think Churchill is speaking to in this picture?

A: The people buried in the dirt.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the Class of 2011"

Gettin' Jakey with it...

So here's the new kid, Jake...he is NUTS...A.D.D. is more like it, actually...I have a feeling he's about as big as he's gonna get, which is smaller than Maddie for those of you who remember. In fact, he's too small to jump on the bed or the couch, but it's funny as hell to see him prepare to dismount...I need to buy him a cape...

2 months already?!?!?!

Wow...2 months almost since the last post...that can be explained by the tremendous amount of work required of a new teacher...I love it, but the first coupla years will be demanding to say the least...I pretty much work from the moment I get home to the time I go beddy-bye, with a quick break to eat...but like I said, it's great, I love it, and wouldn't second-guess my decision at all...I know it's just the beginning, and things will only get better with time...

so anyhoo, The Nuge was kind enough to send me this link to my younger days, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it...

In fact, it reminded me that I have some classic, still-on-the-backing stickers from the early 80s...
